Rail Based Movements

Cherry Drop

A backwards roll off a bar dismount. Not necessarily a parkour move but good practice for rail bails. This move primarily involves hooking your knees to the bar and letting yourself roll backwards.

Gate Vault

Using an upper and lower ledge, a Gate Vault can be used to dismount off taller obstacles while choosing to either maintain or stop momentum.

Grips

There are two main grips for holding a bar (hook and ā€œCā€ grip). Hook grip is the most common where you fingers and thumbs are on top of the bar. "C" grip involves putting your thumb under the bar. The third move (regrip) is used while swinging to regain your grip on the back swing.

Lache / Lache Starts

A lache is a move used to swing off a bar. The move involves gaining momentum from a swing. Once you let go, you can grab another bar or land on an obstacle or ground.

Lache starts are used to begin your swing. They include kick start, cast start, and diving start.

Pole Spin / Pole Climb / Pole Turn

Pole Spin: Use your inside arm grab the higher on the bar as you swing your body forward. Momentum will pull you around.

Pole Climb: Use good cat hang form. Allow your body to hang away from the pole.

Pole Turn: While holding a cat hang position, twist your wrists to get your body to turn.

Reverse Penny Drop

This move (also known as the Pullover) is a spinning hip mount. Bend your arms and move your hips up towards the bar. Bring your legs together and make a "L" shape with your body and legs. As you bend your arms, your feet should move over the bar, with your legs following.

Underbar / 360 Underbar

Swinging your body under a bar in a fluid manner.

Underbar focuses on guiding your hips first. 360 Underbar focuses on shoulders first with a full spin rotation.
